Dubai – 5 essential thing to explore

I feel a new crush coming up. Dubai you have done something to me.

Just a few decades ago this thriving City was a mere fishing town at the Gulf. This is an intriguing Metropol who keeps setting world records and just keeps going faster and higher than you might think possible.

Dubai is home of many world records, the world´s biggest mall, most expensive suites, tallest buildings – the list is neverending. They really know how to do it here in Dubai.

Top 5 things to do in Dubai:

  1. Bastakia QuarterThis magical part of Dubai has a handful galleries and craft shops to explore before heading in to Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding. It this is your first visit to Dubai this centre is a must to understanding the culture of Dubai. They teach open doors, open minds in here.

  2. JBR Walk. The beach and shopping, combined. What is not to like? This is the place to be seen and show off at Thursday and Friday night, see how many shiny Ferraris you will spot. You will find many cute shops, cafe and family friendly restaurants here. It is a tourist scene, but nicely done and if you want to bring your bikini you might spend an whole day here tanning, eating and shopping.

  3. Madinat Jumeirah. This area is the home of the famous “7 Star” hotel Burj al-Arab. The little venice lookalike area with a modern shopping centre with a souvenir souk. I could spend a whole day here walking the streets or even taking one of the small boats on the river and the Burj al- Arab as the backdrop maybe sipping to a cocktail in one of the fancy hotels. A lush green city within the city. Definitely a must. And close by you will find Dubai Marina. Another great area to explore.

  4. Burj KhalifaThe world tallest man made building. You simply can’t miss this. Make sure you book in advance. This building holds several world records: the highest Mosque, highest swimming pool, the highest viewing point at the 124th floor and used to hold the fastest lift.

  5. Friday Brunch Although I did unfortunately not get to experience this big event myself (this time around) This is a very big happening in Dubai. Champagne and a big brunch at any of the city fine restaurants is Fridays biggest event and last for hours on. Make a reservation and enjoy. Cheers
