Dubai

Dubai holidays

It is that time of the year again. Winter is coming, fast. Fall is upon us and with it the crips air and colder nights. This time of year I always get a bit restless and ready for some getaways. I have an urge to get up and discover Dubai once more.

My first impression of Dubai was true to my expectations. This Emirate is truly a wonder. Bigger, better and best. Beyond all.

The beaches are pretty, oh so pretty. White sandy beaches and turquoise water. Makes me want to spend a couple of days just relaxing and stressing down.

If you prefer some more action you can always do the sand dune experience like I did. The orange desert lies just outside the City of Dubai and are just as stunning as any Sahara Desert. I ride to experience the dune bashing as they call it are almost mandatory. I chickened out though and went with the slow four wheeler… taking it relatively easy riding those big dunes, but next time I will definitely go all in… Screams and all. It was so much fun. And the evening ended up at a Bedouin camp watching the sun set with a glass of bubbly before we enjoyed a lovely Arabic Meze and some belly dancing.

What surprised me the most are possible the utterly stylish restaurants with such great international food. Many of which turns into nightclubs in the late evening with live DJ or bands. A most pleasurable experience. Bring your high heels and some of your killer dresses. You might just need them.

When opting for that Dubai Holiday there are still a few more things you just have to do. Almost to the point of mandatory…

Dubai Holiday
#atthetop in the worlds tallest man made building
  1. The view from Burj Khalifa. One simply can not visit Dubai and not visit the world highest building. I thought I would be scared (as I am not to fond of heights). But shockingly I did not mind at all. You get to see the whole city and how the desert covers it. The famous Palm Island is also shown best from the hight.
  2. Experience the history and get some culture lessons at Bastakiya. I had some afternoon tea and lunch at the very peaceful and lovely area of Bastakiya. The oldest part of Dubai with Arabic houses with the cute wind towers.
  3. Splash you cash! Dubai has big shopping malls. And I mean really big, as in the world´s largest and most spectacular ones. A short visit is a must. They have it all covered for those of us not so bitten by the shopping bug. Why not wander through the big aquarium or hit the ski lopes. In Dubai you can make it happen while shopping. The malls are all air-conditioned for those scorching hot summer months.

Nice small quiet streets to walk in the Bastakiya Area

Packed full of man-made and natural wonders. A Dubai Holiday and Emirates are a wonderful mix of record breaking towers, spice scented souks and white sandy beaches. Everything I need for my holiday.
