NuArt Stavanger. Street art returns

I rush out of my cab eager to see how many people have turned up for the first annual city walk of NuArt exebition this year. NuArt have returned to Stavanger and so have I. I love street art and the exebition is a great start to my Berlin trip.

Last year I did a street tour on my own, this year I am joining in on a joint one. First Sunday of September. Opening act of NuArt and a free guided streetart tour in the neighbourhood of Øst.

Made it just in time for the departure at Tau Scene.

Approximately 300 people in the streets of Stavanger to check out this years new street art

There must be at least 300 people that have turned up for the free tour. The sun is shining and summer is still in the air. The mix of people that have turned up are very different. From old to young. Last years turn up was set to a little under 200 this year we are almost doubled.

Our guide Erik Rønning Bergsagel did a great job on talking and showcasing this years artists. But if you really wanted to hear it all you needed to be all up front.

It may seem that street art in Stavanger is an upcoming thing. People seems to be proud of it´s city art and that is a good thing. We have come a long way from the hidden ugly graffiti. This years NuArt presented many art pieces and many political pieces as well. The paintings seems to all tell a story and have inspirations from our own region.

How cool are these? These little green men are all over Stavanger in many varieties and one day I am going to find them all.

Starting of the tour at Tou Scene. There are many great pieces on the walls of the old brewery. And separate displays inside the building

Find any hidden messages in this piece?

The tour takes 1 1/2 hour and I do recommend taking one. The festival have a program for another 2 weeks so hurry up. Head out into the street and look for all the wonderful art displayed. Check out the official page hereFor both inspiration and for a updated city map with this years NuArt pieces.

Even if some fell of along the walk many stayed on during the whole guided tour. Informative and educational. I liked the fact that you got to know the art piece and it´s maker.

Finishing off with lunch in the sun. Just around the corner at Ostehuset.
