Berlin by bike, 5 hour fat tire tour around the city.

A new morning dawns in Berlin and we are ready to explore the city by bike. After a long wonderful breakfast in the backyard of Hotel Circus we take to our feet and wander towards the TV tower at Alexanderplatz. We have a date with Walid of Fat Tire Berlin. And what I consider to be the best way to explore .Berlin by bike.

I can not brag about my fitness form, or the lack of it! But Berlin by bike is truly a great way to see the City. The City is sizzling hot, but by two wheels you get a good breeze. And no need to worry. Berlin is flat, you hardly break out a sweat.

We not only have one sightseeing planned but are coming back for the evening food tour in the evening. The will be some mile covered during this last full day in Berlin.

We are kicking it off with a private tour accompanied by Mr. Walid. A hysterical funny gay hardrocker… you could never tell from just looking. Starting the whole bike ride with a short history lesson on west and east Berlin. And we are off…

A small history lesson on how Berlin was divided

I really like this way of getting around the city. And Berlin is a bike safe city. Not once did I feel unsafe at two wheels. The good thing about booking the private tours are that you get to see exactly what you are interested in. The perfect way. And a pure bliss

After the short history lesson we head into Kreuzberg and take a look on some former abandoned houses and factories. Now occupied by squatters who has been there for generations. And graffiti, wonderful awesome and cool street art.

One of the factories that are used to hold highly parties. Go clubbing in Berlin´s underground scene.

now let´s go dancing… these guys are all over Berlin ♥

I have some suggestion to what to I want to see and Walid kindly follows up. I saw this picture perfect place along the river and just have to have a look.

Berlin by bike
Not many people around when we arrive. Walid tells us that this area are for clubbers coming down from a night of dancing. They meet up here for some drinks and food before they head home.

a peaceful and sunny morning. Rent a canoe and just chill at the water. What I want to do next time..

Berlin is truly a green metropolitan and it shows best by bike. We went through many beautiful parks. Daniela and Walid leads the way, deep in conversation.

On our way to lunch we pass through east side gallery. The best well know part of the wall that have been preserved and now decorated with many paintings. Always brimming with tourist here and they have put up some kind of fencing too, probably to protect the wall for wear and tear. A must see if you come to Berlin.

Some wind in my hair. Me and Daniela on the back side of east side gallery. I really should have ditched the jeans though.. in 26ºC – way to hot.

It is time for lunch. We stop along the way. From east side gallery we head into a new district. Neukölln, what can be described as Berlin newest and hippest area. This also happens to be Mr. Walids own neighbourhood. We get to go lunching at his coffee house. Nah am wasser. A super cute coffee house with it´s own indoor swing. I mean come on, how cool it that?

Nah am Wasser. As Walid him self said – good food and shit strong coffee.

Give me a swing and I am happy as a pupp. This is way to much fun. But the food is really good too 😉

Fresh food made to serve. For some reason I feel extra healthy when I come to Berlin.
Berlin by bike
Freshly squeezed juice, mm this is so good!

We get to know our private tour guide a little more as he tells us stories from his neighbourhood Neukölln. How this area used to be a scruffy neighbourhood to now a new, expensive and hipp area. Berlin are in constant change.

We hop back on the bikes and turn towards the city center yet again. This have been a 5 hour fun filling time. I have learned a lot and seen even more. And we have laughed and could hardly stop smiling on this private tour by Fat Tire Berlin. Thank you for a wonderful day.

Berlin has so much to offer – to anybody visiting. Local og not. This is a city for everybody with all kinds of history. And the best way to explore is by far on two wheels.

We finish of with something cold, a good brake after 5 hours on a bike in the heat. You might notice the difference in the sizes.. Just on a note – I am allergic to bear, but can handle a small one 😉
